CDA is hosting a complimentary bus tour for our allies who are dedicated to advancing racial equity in Milwaukee.

When and Who:
Friday, May 16th: Funders, Partners, Allies, and Residents
Saturday, May 17th: Prioritizing residents who live in the neighborhoods or who are interested in purchasing a new home.
The tour will take participants to five different model homes across Milwaukee in the Washington Park, King Park, Harambee, Thurston Woods, and Muskego Way neighborhoods. At each model home, attendees will hear directly from the builder – Rooted & Rising, Emem Group, Habitat for Humanity, LUSH Homes, and Milwaukee Christian Center – about the construction of the home, key features, and more! Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and to provide feedback on the design of each home.

The tour will also drive through the Garden Homes neighborhood. The Historic Garden Homes, built in 1921 by Mayor Daniel Hoan, is America’s first public housing cooperative. Recently, 24 units were
restored, including 11 historic homes, transforming vacant properties with developer 30th Street Industrial Corridor to celebrate 100th Neighborhood Anniversary.

The tour will begin and end at CDA’s Homeownership Lab, at 3800 W. Lisbon Ave. In this space, CDA staff will talk about the efforts underway to address housing inequity and to provide a quality, affordable house for every Milwaukeean.
Attendees also will enjoy an opportunity for networking and frank and transparent dialogue.
