As part of the CDA Next GEN Home Bus Tour, attendees made a special stop in the historic Garden Homes neighborhood, led by developer 30th Street Industrial Corridor.

At the stop, Cheryl Blue, Executive Director of 30th Street Industrial Corridor, gave a powerful presentation on the history and revitalization of the area. Built in 1921 by Mayor Daniel Hoan, Garden Homes is recognized as America’s first public housing cooperative. Today, the Corridor is leading efforts to transform vacant properties, recently restoring 24 units, including 11 historic homes, bringing new life and opportunity to the neighborhood.

During the ride to Garden Homes, Ex Fabula storytellers Leena and Leean Lee shared their inspiring journey of helping others achieve homeownership, while Lilliann Paine offered a personal reflection on growing up near the neighborhood.

The featured home on the tour includes:

  • Single Family

  • Two-story

  • 3 bedrooms / 1 bathroom

  • Approximately 1,200 sq. ft.

This particular home is currently being used as a law enforcement sitting location—a unique initiative aimed at building safety and trust by addressing crime from within the neighborhood, alongside residents.
