Harambee Homeownership Initiative

We’re excited to share this page as your go-to resource for staying connected to future Harambee affordable housing projects. We are proud to collaborate with our partners and neighbors to promote the opportunity for you to become a future homeowner in Harambee.
For more detailed information over the next several years. We look forward to working together to build a brighter future in our community!
Why Is This Important?
Our community deserves to thrive, and housing is a vital part of that journey. The Harambee Homeownership Initiative aims to enhance the quality of life in our neighborhood while making sure that it remains a welcoming and affordable place for everyone. Plus, homes will be deed restricted to maintain affordability and prevent any displacement of current residents. And the best part? You’ll have a say in how these homes are designed, priced, and built!

Let’s Talk About the Tax Incremental District (TID)
Before we can break ground, we need the City of Milwaukee Common Council to approve the creation of a Tax Increment District (TID). This will help fund the project and ensure we can get things moving. About 90% of the proposed TID is in Alderwoman Coggs’ district.
