About Milwaukee Christian Center

Karen Higgins serves as the Executive Director of the Milwaukee Christian Center (MCC), a dynamic organization dedicated to cultivating a vibrant Milwaukee by helping individuals, families, and neighborhoods meet basic needs, overcome systemic barriers, and connect to meaningful opportunities.

Founded in 1921 on Milwaukee’s South Side, MCC offers a range of impactful programs, including:

  • Youth development

  • Violence prevention

  • Housing and neighborhood improvement

  • Emergency food distribution and senior support

Jake Weiler is the Director of Housing. MCC’s Homebuilding and YouthBuild programs create real change by opening doors for young people and strengthening Milwaukee neighborhoods. Youth ages 18–24 earn their diploma while gaining hands-on construction training, building affordable homes for local families. They develop job skills, leadership, and confidence while contributing to their own community. Every house they build represents opportunity—an opportunity for youth to grow into meaningful careers and for families to access safe, quality housing.
