October has been a busy month for CDA. And even though there are only a few days left, we need your help!

 

​

• We need allies to attend the Milwaukee Common Council's Budget Amendment Day hearing this Friday, October 31 at 8:30 a.m. We need a show of force to demonstrate that Down Payment Assistance (DPA) has wide support among Milwaukeeans! Scroll down for additional details.

• Following Friday's hearing, we are also calling on allies to send letters of support for DPA to their Alderperson. If you are willing to submit a letter, please email us at policy@housingplan.org for templates and other updates!

• A high thank you to our Resident Advisory Council on Housing (RACH), CDA staff, and several of our accomplices who have already made the case for continued full funding of DPA during budget hearings and listening sessions earlier this month.

• WHEDA announced a special $50 million program to help low-income owners make repairs to their homes, with the goal of keeping longtime owners in their homes.

• The first applications have been received for the Launchpad and Accelerator programs to assist Black and Latino developers.

• Sales of homes built for Early Childhood Educators (ECE) are picking up and are now listed on local realtors' Multiple Listing Service (MLS).

• And we're happy to share a personal story of one of our own, Johanna Jimenez, and why advocating for affordable homeownership isn't just a job, but a passion.
