Dear Housing Accomplices:

The weather has taken us on a bit of a roller coaster ride this month, and I'm sure we're all hoping Spring is coming soon. Activity at CDA and among our accomplices is certainly heating up as "construction season" is set to start.

Last week, we celebrated surpassing 3,000 homeowners since we began implementing Milwaukee's Collective Affordable Housing Strategic Plan in 2022, and unveiled a gorgeous mural at our office. The plan is working, but there is much more to be done. The mural created by Tia Richardson at the Homeownership Lab is a daily reminder and inspiration for the work we are doing to increase housing equity for Black and Latino residents in Milwaukee.

I am so encouraged by the leadership of Mayor Cavalier Johnson, County Executive David Crowley, members of Common Council and County Board of Supervisors, and so many others who are making quality, affordable homeownership a reality in Milwaukee.

We are seeing success with our Midtown Tax Incremental District (TID) as homes there are completed and residents move in with the goal of homeownership. Similarly, homes are under construction thanks to our Harambee TID and we are planning a third TID to build new homes in the Amani neighborhood.

Our staff, resident volunteers, and accomplices are making the case for affordable housing in City Hall, the Courthouse, the state Capitol, and on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. I encourage you to join us if you are able and to contact your elected representatives to let them know you support efforts to increase affordable housing and homeownership.

Thank you to your ongoing support and hard work.

Sincerely,

Teig
